Letter from Executive Director
Dear CME Family,
As the new Executive Director of College Mentoring Experience, I believe that we are only as strong as the company we keep. I have spent the past few weeks getting to know members of our organizations as well as members of the surrounding community. After several years of leading and volunteering for various organizations, I can say with confidence that we are surrounded by a community with the best people with the biggest hearts. Through the collective efforts and advocacy of the entire CME Family we will be stepping into an exciting chapter for the College Mentoring Experience.
I recognize that the leader of CME holds an important role as a community organizer and servant leader in the surrounding communities—and it is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. My goal is to preserve and build upon the incredible legacy that this organization has established, while simultaneously looking toward the future with strategic growth in mind. Luckily, we have a tremendous team on our side. We have an enthusiastic, committed Board of Directors, a knowledgeable, dedicated staff, and a community full of volunteers and donors who never fail to say “yes.”
The strategic plans for CME will be supported by a dedicated focus on diversifying and expanding our funding resources. Our goal is to use each precious dollar wisely to achieve the greater good of measured, impactful social change through the empowerment of our mentees. No matter how our organization continues to evolve, our number-one goal will always be to make sure that the young people in our community are supported in gaining access to and through college. And you—parents, mentors, donors, volunteers, and funded programs—will always be our primary partner in building a stronger CME. Our job is to help young people activate the part of themselves that wants to excel and achieve while leaving the world a better place. I thank you for choosing to make a difference through the collective power of supporting the mission of College Mentoring Experience.
Your support, participation, and contributions are critical to achieving the strategic goals of CME. I want you to know that my door is always open. In the coming months, I plan to do a lot of listening to better understand where we are as an organization and where we need to be. Each of you has a unique perspective on the needs of our mentees and our community, and I am eager to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time at email@example.com or (312) 414-1419.
Dr. Rodrick Terry, Executive Director
